CIEAM is dedicated to developing the field of engineering asset management through its Education and Training program.
Program objectives
CIEAM’s Education and Training program aims to develop and maintain a high level of knowledge and skills in all aspects of asset management technology across related sectors by:
- Maintaining throughput of quality post graduate scholars in the field of engineering asset management to meet growing industry requirements;
- Positioning itself as the pre-eminent research and education centre for engineering asset management both nationally and internationally;
- Delivering quality education and training for industry professionals and technical staff, ranging from masters courses through to short, focussed workshops, tailored to specific topics; and
- Providing a national asset management focus for industry, government and the general public.
Postgraduate program
Through its seven participating universities, CIEAM’s postgraduate program offers top-up scholarships for PhD and Masters students to pursue research and innovation in asset management
Representing an integral element of CIEAM’s Research Programs, postgraduate studies are supervised by industry experts as well as scholars in academia.
To date, CIEAM’s post graduate students have been employed by a variety of asset intensive industry sectors, including water, power generation, mining, oil and gas, and engineering services. Others have followed an academic career in Australian universities.
Industry training
As a leading international research and education centre, CIEAM delivers grassroots asset management training for general industry and government audiences, as well as specialised, tailored courses for industry participants.
Through its research activities, CIEAM has developed a substantial body of knowledge (BOK) in asset management. Consisting of themes specific to asset management, such as reliability, planning and budgeting, as well as a suite of PhD and Masters theses, plus twelve modules forming a framework of asset management, the BOK form the basis of CIEAM’s industry training courses.
CIEAM is also in the process of developing an e-Learning graduate course in asset management, which aims to provide industry practitioners with a degree qualification as well as in-depth training in the field.
