CIEAM People

Joe Mathew

CIEAM is led by CEO, Professor Joe Mathew who championed the need for Integrated Engineering Asset Management. He is a Founding Director and Chair of the Board for the International Society of Engineering Asset Management, and chairs the International Standards Organisation’s Committee on Condition Monitoring and Diagnostics, as well as the Australian Asset Management Collaborative Group (AAMCoG) and is the General Chair of the World Congress on Engineering Asset Management.

Each of CIEAM’s research programmes are led by accomplished academics in fields related to Engineering Asset Management. These are:

Lin Ma

Prof Lin Ma

Leader, Models and Decision Systems research programme

Prof Lin Ma is the leader for Models and Decision System program at CRC for Integrated Engineering Asset Management (CIEAM). Lin leads a number of major commonwealth and industry funded projects in the field of asset management with total funding over two million dollars. She enjoys working closely with industry partners for providing scientific assistance to industrial problems.Lin has a strong track record in research publications, grant applications and post graduate supervision as well as collaborative research with industry and fellow research institutions. She has been awarded by the Queensland Premier 2007 Smart State Smart Women Award (Engineering in Public sector category) on research as well as QUT VICE-CHANCELLOR Award for Excellence 2007 for Research Excellence.

Rhys Jones

Prof Rhys Jones

Leader, Advanced Sensors research programme

Based at Monash University, Professor Jones is Head of the DSTO’s Centre of Expertise on Structural Mechanics. With over 200 publications and several books to his credit, Professor Jones has made significant contributions to a broad range of fields including infra-red thermography, smart structures and sensors, computational mechanics, repair technology, and optimum design. He is actively involved with Australian industry and has held positions on a range of national and international research and advisory committees.

Brett Kirk

Prof Brett Kirk

Leader, Intelligent Diagnostics and Remnant Life Prediction research programme

Prof Kirk is Head of the School of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Western Australia, and is also the Leader of CIEAM’s Intelligent Diagnostics and Remnant Life Prediction Research Programme.He has been instrumental in creating research capacity and engaging with partner institutions and industry in joint ventures such as WA Energy Research Alliance.

Andy Koronios

Prof Andy Koronios

Leader, Systems Integration and IT research programme

Professor Koronios has over 20 years experience in academia, as well as extensive experience in the commercial environment in Australia and South East Asia. He has established 2 university research labs and a funded centre, in addition to publishing 6 books, several chapters, and numerous research papers on topics such as information security, data quality, electronic commerce, multimedia, online learning systems and web requirements engineering.

Prof Paul Hyland

Leader, Strategic Human Dimensions research programme

Professor Paul Hyland is a Professor of Management at Queensland University of Technology Brisbane. Prior to joining QUT he was a professorial research fellow at the University of Queensland. His research focuses on innovation management and business development. He has also worked on research projects and consultancies for industry partners to assist with capability development and business improvement issues. He is involved in the Mentoring for Growth program offered by the Queensland government. He is internationally recognised for his research and has been invited to review research applications for the European Science Foundation and the Italian government. He is widely published in the with over 50 journal articles, 100 conference papers and 5 book chapter published in the last 15 years.

Doulgas Dunstan

Douglas Dunstan

Business and Commercial Manager

Douglas Dunstan is a financial management and audit specialist with over 20 years experience. He holds a MBA from University of New England and a Bachelor of Business specialising in Accounting from Charles Sturt University. Prior to joining CIEAM he worked in areas of private and public sector financial and corporate service management. Particularly in challenging cultural and developing country environments such as WorldFish Center Malaysia, Queensland Government, PNG Banking Corporation Papua New Guinea, Papua New Guinea Telikom, PNG Electricity Commission, Australian National Audit Office Canberra Australia.

Ron King

Dr Ron King

Research Administrator

Dr King has worked as a private consultant in research feasibility, project management, strategic research linkages and proposal development mainly in the CRC environment. He was a Foundation Director of the Offices for Research at the University of Tasmania and at Griffith University and brings his valuable experience to CIEAM in administering the Centre’s projects, intellectual property and research management.

Jane Davis

Communications and Marketing Coordinator

Jane Davis' has experience over the last 10 years in multimedia extends to project management, training, marketing and service delivery, in a range of forums including government, corporate and community sectors. She has been well versed and experienced in diverse and multi disciplinary employment environments, new business and international markets. Her focus involves identifying, analyzing and responding to opportunities and acquiring knowledge in local, state and federally funded programs, compliance guidelines, vocational and corporate training and innovative research.

Kate Hack

Kate Hack

Finance Officer

Kate Hack graduated from the Australian Defence Force Academy after which she served in the Royal Australian Navy as a Supply Officer, gaining valuable financial management experience. Since leaving the Navy, Ms Hack has worked in a range of corporate and government finance roles, including QUT's Australian Centre for Strategic Management.

Lydia Lee

Executive Officer, Commercial & Business Support  

Lydia Lee has been in the education arena for around twenty years, both in the university and private institutions. Ms Lee holds a MBA with distinction from the University of Hull, UK and Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from the University of London. Prior to joining CIEAM, Ms Lee was the Deputy Director of International Marketing & Services of a public listed institution overseas.  Ms Lee has also held the  positions of Assistant Centre Director, Administration Manager and Marketing Manager at a number of established colleges as well as the Senior Manager, Operations for a well known credit bureau overseas.

Betty Goh

Executive Officer, to the CEO

Betty Goh has more than 10 years work experiences in management of resources and multimedia project management for Corporate Banking Clients, Private Corporations and Government organisations. Ms Goh's core competence is in project management, client liaison, project costing and budget management.

Dr Jimin He

Postgraduate and Training Coordinator

Dr He holds a BSc(Eng) in Automotive Engineering from Tsinghua University and PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Imperial College of Science, Engineering and Medicine. Prior to joining CIEAM, he worked primarily in academia but also in industry and private sector. He has an extensive experience in research and its supervision, and published widely. He also brings to CIEAM experiences in managing a school and a national research centre in university environment which involved significant liaison with industry and government departments and commercialising research capabilities.
