March 6, 2013 CIEAM Program Leader and Engineers Australia 2012 National President honoured for sustainability efforts
Engineers Australia’s immediate past National President David Hood has been appointed Member in the General Division of the Order of Australia for significant service to environmental engineering as an educator and researcher, and to public awareness of sustainability, at the 2013 Australia Day awards.

December 19, 2012 CIEAM Conference 2012
One of the biggest highlights of the second half of 2012 was the annual CIEAM conference, held September 5 and 6 and the Brisbane Hilton. This year, as the Centre prepares to transition out of the Commonwealth CRC Program, the conference provided the perfect opportunity to introduce CIEAM’s new entity, the Asset Institute® to our immediate CIEAM ‘family’, Participants, and other key stakeholders.

We are continuing to forge ahead down the road to becoming the Asset Institute®. As you can see, the name is now an Australian registered trademark. We have also finalised terms of engagement, and commenced the process of becoming incorporated.

The seventh World Congress on Engineering Asset Management convened in October of this year in Daejon, Korea, enjoying what was, by all accounts another successful event. Close to 200 delegates participated in the congress this year through the support of DNV and the Korean Standards Association.

June 25, 2012 Qld Premier’s sustainability awards
Co-Leader of CIEAM’s Sustainability and organisational performance program, and National President of Engineers Australia, Adjunct Professor David Hood was a finalist in the Queensland Premier’s sustainability awards. David was acknowledged for his lifelong voluntary commitment to the development of sustainability plans in partnership with professional and industry associations. CIEAM researchers are well recognised as experts in the field of engineering asset management and regularly publish in academic journals. May 31, 2012 Double glory at CRCA Awards
Each year as part of the CRC Association Conference, a range of awards are presented for excellence in innovation and collaboration across the CRC community. CIEAM was honoured to be recognised twice - with an Early Career Researcher Award and the highly prestigious STAR award for engagement with SMEs.
February 29, 2012 Sustainability rating scheme
Australia’s first ever sustainability rating scheme for infrastructure was unveiled on Wednesday 29th February, 2012, at a national launch event at Parliament House. The scheme, initiated and driven by the Australian Green Infrastructure Council (AGIC), is supported by science developed by CIEAM.
December 14, 2011 CIEAM Conference
Each year CIEAM gathers its far-flung community to come together, network and compare notes on achievements for the preceding twelve months. The tradition has continued in 2011, with staff, participants and special guests of the centre congregating at Sheraton Noosa Resort for a three day symposium in the first week of November. The conference also incorporated the annual forum of the Australian Asset Management Collaborative Group (AAMCoG).

December 14, 2011 Launch of “The Guide”
The Guide to Integrated Strategic Asset Management was produced as the result of a collaboration between the Australian Asset Management Collaborative Group (AAMCoG) and CIEAM. Launched by the Chairman, Des Pearson during the AAMCoG annual forum at the 2011 CIEAM conference, the guide is based on the Australasian Procurement and Construction Council Inc.’s (APCC) publication, Asset Management 2001. It reflects advances in asset management since the previous guide was developed and aims to bring it in line with the contemporary asset management environment.
December 14, 2011 David Hood – President elect of EA
We are very proud that the Co-leader of CIEAM’s Sustainability and Organisational Performance Program, Adjunct Professor, David Hood, is the incoming national President of Engineers Australia. Taking over the role of current President Merv Lindsay on 1 January 2012, it’s probably no surprise to the CIEAM family that David plans to make sustainability one of the major themes of his presidency.
